In the research study, the team also tested humans with and without Type 2 diabetes. Like the results find in mice, people also experienced an almost 30% reduction in their ability to secrete insulin when the vitamin A receptors were blocked in their beta cells. Additionally, the team found that completely blocked access to the vitamin A receptors caused beta cells to die.
